Groundbreaking celebrates the journey to a new Early Learning Center for Madison

A Groundbreaking Ceremony was held Tuesday at the site of the new Early Learning Center in Madison. The three year long process to construction included fundraising, grant approval, and finding a partner in EmBe to operate the center.

This facility will provide childcare and early education services. It will feature seven classrooms, an outdoor play area, as well as common spaces. The center will be able to serve up to 140 children, infant to school aged.

Lake Area Improvement Corporation Executive Director Brooke Rollag said Tuesday that, looking back on the three year process, one word summed up her feelings at the groundbreaking.

The Early Learning Center will be a highly visible addition to the city, located on Highland Avenue, just a block south of the intersection with Highways 34 and 81. Rollag said that location was intentional.

Construction of the center should take about one year.
