Fall Pickleball League Coming to Madison in August

The sport of pickleball has been around since 1965, but the game’s popularity has exploded in recent years. In 2003 there were estimated to be just 150 courts in 39 locations. Now, America’s fastest growing sport  is played by nearly 10 million people on 44-thousand courts across the country.

In Madison, pickleball is played on newly constructed courts located just south of the Madison Aquatics Center. The Community Center in Madison launched a Pickleball League this summer. Samantha Tighe, the Recreation Coordinator for the Community Center, says the Ladder League format allows you to play against individuals around your own skill level.

Tighe says as interest has increased in the summer league, they’ve decided to add a fall league as well.

The Fall Pickleball League will run Mondays, from August 12 through October 7th, at 6 and 7pm. Cost for the league is $20. You can sign up by contacting the Madison Community Center.Â
