Early morning theft leads to a civilian chase, crash, and arrest

Two men were arrested Sunday, after a theft and civilian pursuit in Madison. Sunday morning at approximately 9:08am, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft from a business located on the west side of Madison. 

According to Lake County Sheriff Sarina Talich, while law enforcement was enroute to that location, Lake County Communications received a 911 call reporting that an employee of that business had observed the stolen property in an unknown vehicle that was hauling a trailer loaded with another vehicle. 

The employee and owner of the business attempted to intercept the vehicle and stop it. The business owner’s vehicle was struck in the process of doing so. 

The vehicles continued to SW 1st Street in Madison where the victim was able to strike the fleeing vehicle, and forced it to come to a stop at the intersection of Ramm Heights. The driver then backed a vehicle off a trailer they were towing and attempted to flee the scene. The victim was able to keep both occupants on the scene until law enforcement arrived. 

35-year old Bryce Robert Taylor and 20 year old Robert James Taylor were arrested for charges related to this incident. 

UPDATE- 1:58pm  Bryce Robert Taylor has been charged with: Grand Theft, Criminal Entry of a Motor Vehicle, Intentional Damage to Property, Driving Under Revocation, Reckless Driving. He remains in custody on a $5,000 cash bond.

Robert James Taylor has been charged with Grand Theft & Criminal Entry of a Motor Vehicle. He was releasee after posting a $2,000 cash bond.
