City works on water main break; Madison Central Schools closed

A water main break was reported Tuesday afternoon in Madison.  The break is in the area of Northeast 9th Street and Summit Avenue.  Due to safety concerns, Madison city workers will begin work on the break this morning.

The area from Northeast 9th from Prairie to Washington Avenue, Prairie Avenue from Northeast 8th to 9th Street, and North Summit from Northeast 8th to Northeast 11th Streets may be without water while crews make repairs to the water main break.

Because the water main break work is being done in the area of Madison Central High School and Middle School and there will be no water to the school facilities, the school district has cancelled classes for today while it is being repaired.   This does not include St. Thomas or Madison Christian Schools, where classes will be held today.
