City commission to hold budget session today

Madison city commissioners will hold a budget session today, as part of their regular commission meeting. During the budget session, commissioners will discuss priorities for all departments, and give staff direction as they begin the process of setting the 2025 budget.

Other new business for the commission will include a resolution setting the 2025 property tax levy. They are also expected to approve the sale of the T-ball field on Highland Ave. to the LAIC, for a price of 75-thousand dollars. That location will be the future home of the Early Learning Center in Madison.

The commission will also approve advertising a Request for Proposal for the redevelopment of the current City Hall. The new city building is nearing completion, and staff could begin moving into the new building before the end of the year.  Interested developers may submit questions by October 4th, with responses issued from the City by October 18th. The deadline for proposal submissions will be November 1st.

Tonight’s City commission meeting begins at 5:30 in the Commission room of Madison City Hall.
