City Commission approves 2025 tax levy and new custodian position

The Madison City Commission took actions on a number of new business items during their  regular meeting on Monday night. Commissioners approved the city’s property tax levy for 2025. The levy was approved at 2-million, 314-thousand, 410 dollars. State law allows the city to raise the levy each year by 3 percent or the Consumer Price Index, whichever is lower. 

Also approved Monday was a new custodian position for the new City Administrative Building. City Administrator Jameson Berreth explains why the new position is being created. 

In other action Monday, the commission approved new contracts with the IBEW and Teamsters, and a new agreement with Madison Central School District for the School Resource Officer Program.
