Arlington High School senior Preston Singrey named Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio Student of the Month
Arlington High School senior Preston Singrey excels at managing a busy schedule. He’s involved in several high school clubs and serves as president of the student council. Outside of school he volunteers at his church and for local service groups.
Singrey has been named November Student of the Month by Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio. He’s recognized for his outstanding achievements, drive and community involvement.
“Preston is the busiest man in school!” said AHS Principal Lisa Parry. “He attended Boys State, is in the A-Club, and is the basketball student manager. He is in theater and music. He does so much good for students and staff alike. I know he will do great things after high school.”
Singrey’s leadership skills shine as president of 4-H and FFA. This past summer, he led his local FFA chapter in packing 24,000 meals for the non-profit Meals of Hope. He also previously held district-level FFA officer roles.
His hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. In August, Singrey earned the Brookings County 4-H Youth Good Neighbor Award. In 2024, he also earned an FFA Poultry Production Proficiency Award and placed second in archery at State 4-H Shooting Sports.
Singrey is also passionate about theater, active in oral interp and one act play. In 2023, he won multiple Superior Awards at state OI competition. He was named Regional One Act Play Outstanding Performer in 2023 and 2024.
Singrey was also crowned Homecoming King this past fall.
Outside of school, Singrey serves as a CCD teacher for St. John’s Catholic Church. He is also a member of the Arlington Days Committee and Arlington Chamber of Commerce.
Preston is the son of Amy and Aaron Singrey. After high school he plans to study drone technology at Lake Area Technical College.
Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio’s Student of the Month program celebrates exceptional students in one of five area school districts. Heartland Energy provides wholesale power to the cities of Arlington, Colman, Howard, Madison and Volga. Each month, a deserving student from one of these communities is honored for their outstanding achievements. Officials from each participating school nominate students for the award.
