Area Students Visit Pierre For CTSO Legislative Shadow Day

February is National Career and Technical Education Month. As part of the celebration, 34 student leaders spent time in Pierre this week for the South Dakota Career and Technical Student Organizations’ Legislative Shadow Day. Students shadowed legislators at committee meetings and observed House and Senate floor sessions.

Students representing several different Career and Technical Student Organizations attended this year’s event.  Some of the organizations represented included: Educators Rising; Future Business Leaders of America; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; FFA; SD HOSA, a group for students interested in health sciences; and SkillsUSA, an association of trade, technology, and health occupation students.

Area students taking part in the Legislative Shadow Day include Lucas Berg and Faithe Larson of Dell Rapids High School, Austyn Burggraff and Morgan Ludens of Tri-Valley High School, and Lauren Murphy of West Central High School.
