New Location for Fireworks by Lake Herman This Year

For years families in Madison have gathered near Lake Herman to take in the 4th of July fireworks show, that’s been traditionally shot from the Isaac Walton’s League grounds on the Northeast corner of the lake. But that show will have a new location this year, says Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Director Eric Hortness.

Hortness says the change is being made to make the event safer for everyone involved.

The far east “Event Gate” to Prairie Village will open at 8pm on Thursday. There will be volunteers there to guide cars into the parking area. Once there, you can either stay in your vehicle, or move up to a designated area.

When the show is over, all cars will be guided out to the exit on Territorial road. Other than the show, no fireworks are allowed in the Prairie Village grounds. Anyone shooting fireworks in Prairie VIllage will be asked to leave. Local law enforcement will provide security and traffic control.

Thursday’s show will begin at 10pm, and music synchronized to the display will air on both KJAM AM and FM brought to you by the Madison Regional Health System and Greater Madison Area Chamber of Commerce.
