Visiting Dakota Valley for quarterfinal action of the 11A playoffs on Thursday night, the Madison Bulldogs put forth a three-phase effort, cruising to a 40-7 victory. Madison scored on the opening drive of the contest, a four-play 75-yard effort, capped off by a Nathan Ricke to Carter Bergheim 41-yard touchdown pass. The defense was able to get a goal line stand in the first half and scored right before the half to lead 13-0 after 24 minutes of play.

The Bulldogs slammed the door in the third quarter, getting a 57-yard touchdown run from Chris Reece, a 64-yard Interception return for a touchdown by Mike Peters and a houdini-esk 36-yard touchdown run from Ricke. Big plays and a stout defense carried the Bulldogs to the upset victory.

Reese would add one more touchdown on the ground to cap off the Bulldog scoring in the game. Dakota Valley added a late touchdown. Madison finished with 344 yards of offense, including 235 on the ground. Head Coach Max Hodgen reflects on the contest.

Madison will now take on Tea Area next Friday night in semi-final action, with the winner heading to the Dome.
