The Madison Bulldogs seniors put on a show for senior night on Thursday, in a 73-45 win over Dell Rapids lady Quarriers. Madison’s Kendra Leighton put up the first 8 points for the Bulldogs, and finished with a team record 36 points on the night. The senior guard put up 3 three pointers in the first quarter, and knocked down eight total on the night.

Madison led 21-8 after the 1st quarter, but struggled with turnovers in the 2nd, and led by nine points at the break. The Bulldogs offense caught fire in the 3rd quarter, scoring 29 points to put the game out of reach. The 4th quarter finished in a running clock, but not before Leighton’s 36 points had rewritten the school record book.

Fellow seniors Grace Nelson and Brianna Steuerwald added 12 and 11 points for Madison. The only negative in the game for the Bulldogs was the loss of senior Morgan Anderson, who was injured late in the 4th quarter and did not return.

Madison’s record is now 8-10. The Bulldog girls will travel to Dakota Valley on Friday night to take on the Panthers. The first game of that double-header begins at 6:30pm.
