The Madison girls basketball team used a smothering defense in the 2nd half to take down the Arlington Cardinals, 65-49 on Tuesday night at the Madison High School Gym. The Bulldogs fell behind 10-2 in the opening minutes, before coming back to take a 13-12 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. That lead was two points at halftime, but the 3rd quarter saw the Bulldogs force turnovers on 4 of Arlington’s first 5 possessions. Madison forced 19 turnovers in the game, and turned many of those into easy layups.

Brianna Steuerwald had 13 points for Madison, along with 7 rebounds and a game high 5 steals and 3 assists. Kendra Leighton added 16 points and Grace Nelson 10 for the Bulldogs. Hadley Carlson led the Cardinals with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bulldogs win is their second in a row, and puts their record at 3-3. Madison will take on Garretson this Saturday at 8:30pm, in the Mustang Seeds Shootout at the DSU Fieldhouse.
