For the third year in a row, the annual game between Madison and Chamberlain came down to the final possession. And, for the 2nd time in those three years, it was the Madison Bulldogs who came out on top, winning Tuesday night by a score of 74-72.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead, opening up a 12-2 lead in the game’s first minutes. Chamberlain wouldn’t let that lead last long however, as they began a three point barrage that lasted most of the night. Chamberlain took a one point lead at half time, but the Bulldogs again came out of the gate strong in the 2nd half. Madison built up a seven point lead, only to see Chamberlain again come from behind to lead into the 4th quarter.

With Madison down three points in the 4th, sophomore Aspen Dahl converted on a three point play to tie the game up. Keaton Nighbert then followed with six straight points, to give the Bulldogs a lead they would hang onto until the buzzer. The Cubs hit a three pointer with 2 seconds left, but the Bulldogs were able to dribble out the clock to secure the win and end a two game losing streak.

Tyler Tappe finished with a game high 22 points. Cody Brown added 18 and Nighbert 12 for the Bulldogs. Madison will be back at home on Thursday night to take on the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars.Â
