Madison Boys Cross Country Finishes Second at Meet

Madison Boys Cross Country had one runner finish in Top 3 at the Sioux Valley Invite, while also finishing second overall as a team. The Bulldogs had six total runners finish in the Top 25 out of the 46 runners who participated.

Dylan Gerdes’ time of 17:34.22 was good enough to earn him runner-up at the Sioux Valley Invite, finishing second overall. The first place finisher was Ricky Berndt from Deuel (16:40.69).

Finishing just outside the Top 10 was Henry Meyer for Madison, placing 11th with his time of 18:30.77. Daniel Aldridge was the final Bulldog to finish Top 20, finishing 16th with a time of 19:07.22. 

The Bulldogs had two runners finish just outside the Top 20, though, with Nathan Hasleton in 21st (,19:26.47) and Chase Steurwald in 22nd (19:32.05). Other Top 25 finishes for Madison were Ryan Jenks in 24th (19:40.63 20) and Deion Cross in 25th (19:45.71)

Kai Thompson was the final Bulldog to race in the invite, running a time of 21:32.03, good enough for 39th.

As a team Madison placed second overall with their total team time of 1:14:38.68. The Bulldogs also averaged a time of 18:39.67. Flandreau was the first place team finisher, with a total time of 1:12:18.87, and an average time of 18:04.72.

The next meet for the Bulldogs Cross Country team will be a week from today when they compete in the DAK XII Cross Country Meet on Thursday, October 6th.Â
