Madison and Chester had solid starts to the State Track & Field Meet

The Madison and Chester Track & Field teams saw athletes at the podium after the first day of the South Dakota State Track & Field Meet in Sioux Falls. 

Madison senior Lydia Nelson took 2nd place in the high jump, with a leap of 5 feet 2 inches. Ella Pettereins took 3rd in the Pole Vault, with a personal best of 11 feet 4 inches. 

For the Bulldog boys, Aaron Hawkes placed 4th in the Pole Vault with a mark of 13 feet 9 inches, while Nathan Haselton took 6th. 

The Madison boys are currently in 10th place in the team standings after day 1, while the Bulldog girls at 5th. 

For the Chester Flyers Jovi Wolf finished 4th in the Long Jump, and 2nd in the Triple Jump.  The Chester girls took 1st place in the 1600 Meter Sprint Medley Relay. The team of Lizzie Peterson, Jacy Wolf, Emmerson Eppard, and Emery Larson finished with a time of 4 minutes, 18.24 seconds. 

The Chester Area boys are in third place after Thursday’s events, while the Flyer girls are in 5th place. 

The State Meet resumes today through Saturday at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. a
