Madison Advances After Big Win Over Baltic

After a fast start, the Madison Bulldogs boys basketball team advanced in the playoffs after a 69-46 win over Baltic.

Eli Barger got the Bulldogs started with a three pointer, helping Madison start the game on a 12 point run. Baltic didn’t score their first points until 3:30 left in the first quarter, but Madison maintained control with a twenty point lead after the first quarter, up 26-6.

Madison continued to add to their lead before halftime, taking a 41-18 lead into the break. After scoring 22 more points in the third quarter, the Bulldogs were able to empty out the bench in the fourth quarter as they won 69-46.

Aiden Jensen led Madison with a game-leading 20 points and eight rebounds. He also added three blocks. 

Andrew Comes was efficient from beyond the arc, going 5-10 from deep as he finished with 17 points. Ben Brooks added 12 points, eight assists, and six rebounds, along with a block and a steal.

Jack Erickson led Baltic with 17 points and six rebounds. 

As a team, Madison was 28-52 shooting from the field, and made eight of their 20 three-point attempts. Baltic, meanwhile, was 19-45 from the field and 5-23 from deep. 

With their thirteenth win of the season, Madison will move on to play Dell Rapids for a chance to be a SODAK 16 qualifier this Friday, March 3rd from the Elmen Center at Augustana University.
