Madison 16U VFW heading to State after Region wins
The Madison 16U VFW team won the Region 2A title Monday, to qualify for the Class A State Tournament. Madison picked up a pair of wins over Wagner to win the region. They started Monday with a 7-0 win. Cohen Hahn had 3 of Madison’s 10 hits and scored 3 runs to lead the offense. Quincy Kurtz pitched nearly the entire game, going 6 and 2/3rds innings and striking out 9 while allowing just 3 hits. Boyd Pooler got the final out on the mound.Â
Madison then beat Wagner 11-1 in the final game of the region. Tregg Mcgillivray scored twice and drove in 2 runs. Quinn Flemming, Tyler Olson, and Brennon Bickett all had RBI hits in the win. Cohen Hahn got the win in game 2, allowing just one unearned run on one hit with 6 strikeouts.Â
The Class A State VFW tournament will be held August 9th-11th in Vermillion.
