Madison 16U teams split Wednesday games; Black tops Canton, Maroon falls to Dells

The Madison Black 16U team beat Canton 13-3 last night. Madison scored a run in the 1st after Tregg Mcgillivray was hit with the bases loaded. But Canton scored two runs in the next inning on a wild pitch to take the lead. They added another run in the 3rd, before Madison tied it in the bottom of the inning on a single from Cohen Hahn. Then in the 4th Madison broke it open, scoring 6 runs to take the lead for good.

Quinn Flemming had 2 hits and scored 3 runs for Madison Black. Hahn finished with 2 hits, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Brennon Bickett had 2 hits and scored 3 times. Cooper Bergheim picked up the win. He allowed just 1 earned run on 2 hits, and struck out 2. 

Now 6-2, Madison Black will host Flandreau and Tri-Valley today.

Dell Rapids 16U scored eight runs in the 5th inning, and defeated Madison Maroon 13-3 Wednesday. Madison opened the scoring in the 2nd inning, with an RBI single from Grady Kane. But, Dell Rapids put up 5 runs in the bottom of the second to take control of the game. 

Dell Rapids scored 13 runs on 8 hits, 5 walks, and 3 Madison errors. Kane and Tyler Olson combined to strike out 7 batters in the loss. Jackson Peppel delivered a complete game for Dell Rapids, striking out 7 batters and allowing just 3 hits. 

The 6-4 Madison Maroon team will travel to Salem on Saturday.Â
