Opening up Region 5A Basketball on Monday night, the #5 Madison Lady Bulldogs picked up a convincing win on the road, 56-43, over #4 Wagner. Madison jumped out to an early advantage before the host Red Raiders pulled within a bucket in the first quarter, but it was the Lady Bulldogs game after that. MHS held Wagner to 16 points in the first half and led 27-16 at the break.

Madison High would maintain a double-digit lead for most of the second half, hitting a 20-point advantage a few times. Abby Brooks played a key role off the bench and Kendra Leighton continued to perform at a high level as the Bulldogs picked up their 10th victory of the season. Madison Girls move on to play the #1 seed in Region Five, the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars, on Thursday night in Salem. The winner of that contest will move into the SoDak 16.
