Chester Girls in 1st, Madison in 4th, after Day 1 of State Golf

The Madison girls golf team is in 4th place after the first day of Class A State Golf Meet in Sioux Falls. The Bulldogs have a team score of 63 over par after the first round. That’s 7 shots back of West Central and Vermillion, who are tied for 2nd place. Sioux Falls Christian has a commanding lead in the team score with a +35. 

Madison Rummel led the Bulldogs on day one, firing an 8 over par round of 79. Rummel was 7 over on the front nine, but then posted one of the best back 9 scores of the day. She is tied with four other players for 8th place. 

Sienna Maxwell shot an 87 on Monday, and is tied for 22nd place. Delilah Maxwell is tied for 25th after posting a round of 88. Delaney Gerry is tied for 38th place after shooting 93. 

Tori Peterson of Sioux Falls Christian, Hayden Thorton of Rapid City Christian, and Kaitlin Strain of St. Thomas More, are tied for 1st individually after posting 6 over rounds of 77.  

Start times for today’s final round are scheduled for an 8am Shotgun Start. Rummel will tee off in the first of two groups on hole 3 this morning. 

The Chester Area girls are in 1st place after the opening round of the Class B Tournament in Brookings. Chester’s team score of 40 is 7 strokes ahead of 2nd place Miller. 

Jadyn McDonald led the way for the Flyers with an opening round score of 76, which has her in 1st place individually. Jayce Pugh of Miller is one stroke back with a 77. Cadence Olivier and Lauren Roberts both shot 87 on Monday, and are tied with two other golfers for 11th place. 

McDonald will tee-off in the final group today at 10am, from hole #1 at Edgebrook Golf Course. 

The Flyers boys finished day one of their state meet in 4th place, but just one stroke away from Hamlin and Hanson who are tied for 2nd. 

Blake Larson of Wessington Springs had an opening round score of 74, and  lead the Class B boys field by one stroke over Derek Brueggemen of Miller. 

Taylor Kriech of Colman-Egan is tied for 4th place. Carter Vogel leads Chester with a tie for 12th.
