Bulldogs take 4th place at State Softball

The Madison Bulldog Softball team finished in 4th place over the weekend at the Class A State Softball Tournament in Aberdeen. The Bulldogs fell to the top seed West Central in the Semi’s on Friday, 11-5. Madison opened the scoring in the 1st with a Mara Klingile RBI. Aubri Tobkin then singled to score Amanda Vacanti and Klingbile. But the Trojans responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, then three runs in the 3rd and four in the 4th to take the lead for good. 

Vancanti finished 2-2 with 3 runs scored. Tobkin and Klingbile each had 2 RBI. Vancanti pitched all 6 innings, giving up 11 runs on 11 hits. 

That put the Bulldogs into the 3rd place game against Dell Rapids on Saturday. Vacanti struck out 16 batters in that game, but the Quarriers came out on top 3-2. Tobkin was 2-3 in the loss, with a homerun. 

Tea Area upset West Central in the Championship game 9-5, handing the Trojans their first loss of the season.
