After a sluggish first half offensively, the Madison Bulldog football team made it a tale of two halves, as they defeated Sioux Falls Christian 21-16 on Thursday night. The visiting Chargers dominated the first half, moving the ball up and down the field but couldn’t finish off drives. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs finished with less than 30 yards of offensive at halftime.

Madison would tie the game up with a Nathan Ricke touchdown run midway through the third quarter, only for SFC to get a short field goal to take back the advantage. The Bulldogs would capture the lead for good on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Ricke to Dillion Bickett in the first minute of the fourth quarter. Leading 14-10 late, Logan Albee came up with a pick-six with under 2 minutes left to give the Bulldogs some breathing room. Sioux Falls Christian scored a touchdown on the final play of the game.

Despite the first half, Madison finished with 258 yards of offense and created four turnovers defensively. With the victory, the Bulldogs finished the regular season at 5-4 and will travel to Dakota Valley for quarterfinal action of the 11A playoffs next Thursday.
