Broncos win 6th in a row, Hoglund homers again for the Mudcats.
The Madison Broncos won their 6th game in a row on Sunday, beating the Canova Gang 2-1 in extra innings. Canova opened the scoring with their only run of the game in the 6th inning, coming on a Kendall Gassman RBI single. Ty Jorgenson’s double in the 8th inning scored Heith Williams to tie the game. In the 10th, Dawson Bakker singled to score Peyton Wolf and give the Broncos the lead. Tyler Tappe then locked down the win, retiring Canova in order in the 10th.Â
Madison scratched out two runs and spoiled an outstanding start from Canova’s Kendall Gassman, who allowed just 7 hits in 9 innings, and struck out 20 Madison batters. Aspen Dahl got the start for the Broncos and allowed just one run on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts over 10 innings. Brock Minnaert followed with a scoreless two innings, and Tappe pitched the 9th and the 10th for the win.Â
Madison improved to 9-7 with the win, while Canova is now 9-5.Â

The Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks survived a slugfest with Flandreau, beating the Blue Teal 11-10 on Sunday. Flandreau lost, despite opening up a 6-0 lead, and out hitting Humboldt-Hartford 16-11. Michael Witte and Tristan Peters each had 4 hits for the Blue Teal. Blake Svobota had 2 hits and 4 RBI for the Gamecocks. Cam Qhigley and Joe Hanisch each had 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Briggs Havlik picked up the win, after holding Flandreau to just one run over the final 5 innings of the game.Â
The Blue Teal are now 4-11, while the Gamecocks improved to 10-6.

The Salem Cubs won their 8th game of the season on Sunday, defeating the Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks 11-5. Bobby Koepsell led the Cubs 2 hits, 2 runs, and 3 RBI. John Forster and Avery Feterl each had 2 hits and scored twice. Tyler Earls went the distance on the mound, allowing just 1 earned run and striking out 6.Â

Ty Hoglund hit a home run and the Dell Rapids Mudcats won again, this time 6-5 over the Flandreau Cardinals. The Mudcats jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the first 4 innings. Flandreau scored a run in the 8th, and two more in the 9th, to pull within a run. But the Mudcats struck out Zak Wallner to end the game, with the tying run left stranded at 2nd base.Â

Drew Sweeter drove in five runs on three hits to lead Dell Rapids PBR to an 11-4 win over the Colman A’s on Sunday. Sweeter finished a home run shy of the cycle. Conner Spindler, Weston Hansen, Trey Randel, and Matt Gillogly all had 3 hits for PBR. Joe Rechtenbaugh picked up the win, throwing 6 shutout innings, despite issuing 7 walks.Â
Chase Dewitt had 2 hits, including a 2-run homer for Colman in the loss.
