Both Madison Basketball Teams Open Season With Loss

In both of their first games of the season, the boys and girls basketball teams for the Madison Bulldogs lost on the road to Elk Point-Jefferson.

The girls team for Madison struggled throughout the game, going into halftime down by 15 points to the Huskies. In the second half, the Bulldogs’ struggles continued as they managed to only score ten points in the entire half as they lost 66-33 to Elk Point-Jefferson.

Senior Zoey Gerry was the lone Bulldog to reach double-digit points scoring, getting ten points and also getting five rebounds and four assists.

In the boys game, the two sides were extremely competitive throughout with neither side really being able to establish much of a lead, with it being a three-point game heading into the half with EPJ up 32-29.

In the final 90 seconds and needing a few scores, Junior Andrew Comes made back-to-back clutch three-pointers, but the Bulldogs weren’t able to get much else and the Huskies made free throws to end it, as Madison lost 70-63.

Senior Aiden Jensen finished with a double-double to start the season, registering 28 points and ten rebounds. Comes and Ben Brooks each had 12 points for Madison.

Both boys and girls teams for Madison will be back on the road tomorrow when they travel to Tri-Valley. The girls will start at 6:45pm, and the boys will follow at 8pm. Both games can be heard on AM 1390 or online at AmazingMadison.com.
