Both Bulldogs Teams Get Wins on Saturday

On Saturday, both Madison Bulldogs basketball teams got victories, with the boys defeating Dell Rapids St. Mary 70-63, and the girls taking down Chester by a final score of 66-55.

The boys played Dell Rapids St. Mary in the Dakota Valley Conference Classic, and got out to a big early lead, leading 41-15 at the half. The Cardinals then began to cut into the Bulldogs lead in the third quarter, but still trailed by 20 heading into the fourth, with Madison leading 52-32. 

The Cardinals outscored the Bulldogs 31-18 in the final quarter, but Madison was still able to prevent the comeback, beating Dell Rapids St. Mary 70-63 in the DVC Classic. 

Four Bulldogs had double-digit points, with Aiden Jensen finishing with 24 points for Madison, followed by Andrew Comes with 16, Eli Barger with 11, and Ben Brooks who scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. 

The Bulldogs have now won three-straight games and evened their record to 4-4. They return home this Thursday, January 19th when they host Dell Rapids at 7:30pm.

The Lady Bulldogs in the DSU Shootout were also able to secure a victory on Saturday. 

The two teams went back and forth in the opening quarter, with Madison only leading 20-18. The Bulldogs began to separate themselves from Flyers as they led 35-29 heading into half. 

Audrey Nelson scored eight points in the third quarter as Madison continued to build on their lead, leading by 14 heading into the final quarter at 48-34. The Flyers were unable to make the comeback, as the Bulldogs won 66-55 in the DSU Shootout. 

Nelson finished with a double-double, scoring 26 points and grabbing ten rebounds. Emmerson Eppard had 14 points and six rebounds for Chester Area. 

With the win, Madison has now matched last years win total, improving to 3-4 this season.
