Big First Quarter Helps Lead Madison to Win

The Madison Bulldogs boys basketball team used a fast start in the first quarter to get a 57-45 victory over Milbank.
Madison was able to carry their early 17-6 lead after the first quarter with them throughout the rest of the game. The Bulldogs double downed in the second quarter by adding 17 more points to take a 34-17 halftime lead.
Despite Milbank outscoring Madison in the second half, Madison still got the road win, by a final score of 57-45.
Leading the Bulldogs was Chuck Callahan, with 17 points going 3-6 on three-point range. He also had five rebounds.
Aiden Jensen finished with his eighth double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, and had four blocks.
Eli Barger added double-digit points for Madison, with ten points. Ben Brooks had eight points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
Garrett Mertens had a game-leading 19 points for Milbank, and also grabbed five rebounds.
As a team, Madison shot 22-52 from the field and 8-20 from three-point range, while Milbank was 15-49 from the field and 8-30 from beyond the arc.
With the win, Madison improved to 11-8 this season, and Milbank fell to 12-7. Madison will stay on the road for their regular season finale scheduled for this Friday night at 7:30pm. Game can be heard on AM 1390 or online at AmazingMadison.com.
