One loss to start the season was enough to drop the Dell Rapids Quarriers out of the top 5 in this week’s South Dakota High School Football Poll. The two time defending state champions opened their season with a 22-14 home loss to Dakota Valley last week. Dell Rapids had been tied with Sioux Falls Christian for number 2 in the poll. The Chargers won their season debut, 42-13 over West Central. 

Canton remains the #1 team in the 11A poll, after defeating Rapid City Christian 20-16. Sioux Falls Christian came in 2nd, followed by Dakota Valley, Lennox, and Rapids City Christian. Dell Rapids, Tri-Valley, West Central and Madison all received votes in this week’s poll.

This Friday will feature a number of matchups between the top teams. Sioux Falls Christian travels west to take on Rapid City Christian. Canton will host Dakota Valley, while the Madison Bulldogs will travel to Dell Rapids. That game will start Friday night at 7 on Dakota’s Best, with the Edward Jones Pregame show at 6:40pm.
