Students in the Madison Central School District will start the new school year off with free meals. The Madison Central School Board this week agreed to provide free student meals for the first seven days of the school year, from August 22nd through August 30th. Business Manager Mitchell Brooks said doing this at the beginning of the school year helps families by giving them time to get accounts set up for the year.
Also during Monday’s meeting, Brooks said that the district served 3073 meals during its free summer lunch program. He said there was an average of close to 72 children a day who took part in the summer lunch program at Madison Elementary School. Brooks said this is a slight increase over last year’s lunch program.
