Madison Central School Board approves policy changes

The Madison Central School Board approved the second reading of proposed changes to a few of the district’s policies during its meeting on Monday.

Board members approved changes to the district’s policy on gate receipts, admissions, and participation fees.  Some of the changes include adding college and technical school students with a valid ID to the student charge for home athletic events.  The cost for all students then will be three-dollars, with the cost for adults set at five-dollars, for single home athletic events. The cost rises to four-dollars for all students and six-dollars for adults for double-header events.

Also part of the change in the policy includes the reduction in the cost of season activity passes.  Those rates are set at 110-dollars for a family pass, 60-dollars for an adult season pass, and 30-dollars for a student season pass.

Another district policy with changes approved by the school board includes the district’s policy on executive, or closed sessions.  State law regarding executive sessions changed on July 1st, so the policy approved by the board reflects some of the changes. One of the changes adds the discussion related to emergency management plans or planning to what can now be discussed in executive session.  The policy also states that any official action concerning any of the matters listed as acceptable topics for executive sessions shall be made in an open official meeting.
