Madison Black splits games in Chamberlain

The Madison Black 13/14 year old Teener Baseball team split a doubleheader in Chamberlain on Saturday, defeating Lead-Deadwood 18-0, and falling to Platte 6-3.

Madison Black needed just 3 innings to take down Lead-Deadwood. Madison put up 9 runs in the top of the 1st inning, and 8 more in the 3rd. The team pounded out 15 hits while drawing 9 walks.

RJ Cook was 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored. Addison Gehrels had 2 hits, 3 RBI and scored twice. Kayden Gehrels and Masson Kennington also had multi hit games.

Against Platte, Madison fell behind in the 1st, giving up 5 quick runs, and wasn’t able to battle back from the early deficit. Lucas Mork pitched well, but the defense was shaky behind him. Mork gave up 6 runs, but only 1 earned, as Madison committed 4 errors. Kayden Gefrels and Tim Kessler had the only hits for Madison Black.

The team is now 6-6 on the season.
