Work begins on two city improvement projects

Work began this week on two projects within the City of Madison.

One of the projects is a water main improvement project on South Division Avenue in Madison.  The project includes the replacement of the existing surfacing and water mains, and minor sidewalk replacements.  Halme Incorporated of Bryant is the contractor for the project, which includes the area on Division Avenue between Southeast 4th Street and Northeast 1st Street.

The other project is part of the first phase of the city’s Water System Improvement project in a portion of the northwest Madison.  The project will involve full reconstruction of the roadway, including replacement of the existing asphalt surface, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water mains, street lighting, individual water and sewer service upgrades, and minor sidewalk replacements.  J&J Earthworks, Incorporated of Milbank is the contractor for this project.

City Engineer Chad Comes told Madison City Commissioners during their meeting this week that information on the projects was sent to residents and property owners in the areas affected.  He said information will also be updated on the city’s website.
