Wire and Shaw sworn in as Madison City Commissioners

Two newly elected commissioners took their oaths of office to serve their respective terms on the Madison City Commission on Monday.  Adam Shaw and Jerae Wire took their oaths of office and started their three-year terms on the commission during Monday’s commission meeting.  Shaw and Wire take over the seats previously held by Kelly Johnson and Jeremiah Corbin.  

A resolution establishing the powers and the duties of the Mayor and the commissioners was also approved by the commission on Monday. 

According to the resolution, Commissioner Mike Waldner will remain as the city’s Public Safety Commissioner and Commissioner Bob Thill will become the Commissioner of Public Works.  Commissioner Wire will serve as the city’s Utilities Commissioner, and Commissioner Shaw will be the Commissioner of Finance and Revenue.  In his motion to adopt the resolution, Commissioner Waldner also noted that Commissioner Shaw will serve as the commission’s liaison with the Lake Area Improvement Corporation, which was listed under the duties of the Utilities Commissioner.
