Wentworth man indicted by federal grand jury on child pornography charge

A Wentworth man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography.  29-year-old Jordan Opdahl was indicted earlier this month and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica Duffy last week.  Opdahl pleaded not guilty to the indictment. 

The Indictment alleges that on or about October 20th of 2020, Opdahl knowingly  received and distributed, and attempted to receive and distribute, child pornography that  had been mailed, shipped, and transported in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce  by any means, including by computer.  

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 20 years in federal prison and/or  a $250,000 fine, life of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.  Restitution may also be ordered.  

The investigation is being conducted by Homeland Security Investigations,  Madison Police Department, and Division of Criminal Investigation. Opdahl was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not been set yet.

Opdahl also faces several felony charges of Possession of Child Pornography and a charge of Sexual Contact with a child under sixteen in Lake County. Â
