The state Department of Health reported one more COVID-19 death over the weekend.  The state’s total number of COVID-19 deaths is now at 1953 since the start of the pandemic.  Another 200 new positive COVID-19 cases were also reported in the state since Friday.  There are currently just more than 22-hundred active coronavirus cases statewide, and 96 people are hospitalized. 

Lake County reported four new positive COVID-19 cases and one recovered case over the weekend.  The county now has 31 active coronavirus cases.  

Kingsbury County reported 46 active cases as of this weekend, McCook County had nine, Moody County – 8,  and Miner County reported two active COVID-19 cases.  Brookings County had 180 active cases. 

The Madison Central School District reported a couple of new positive cases as of Friday.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson said that a student or staff member at Madison Middle School had tested positive for COVID-19.  He said the district is working with the state Department of Health to determine any close contacts.  Close contacts will then be notified by the school district.  

The second positive case in the school district is a student or staff member at Madison Elementary School.  Jorgenson said there are no close contacts though for the district.
