The state Department of Health reported 184 new positive cases of COVID-19 over the weekend.  There were no new deaths reported, hospitalizations stayed the same at 103, and active coronavirus cases rose slightly since Friday.  The state did not update its daily information on Sunday because of the Easter holiday.

As of Saturday, Lake County reported four new positive COVID-19 cases and one recovered case, putting the county’s number of active cases at 42. 

Kingsbury County had 63 active cases as of Saturday, McCook County reported 24, and Miner County had ten.  Moody County reported four active COVID-19 cases and Brookings County had 151.

The state Department of Health reported also that as of Saturday, 46-percent of the state’s population had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while close to 31-percent had completed their vaccination series. 

The Madison Central School District reported one new positive COVID-19 case within the district on Saturday.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson said that a student or staff member at Madison Elementary School had tested positive for COVID-19.  He said that any close contacts for students would be determined by the school district and state Department of Health and parents would be notified.
