The number of new positive COVID-19 cases increased by almost 350 statewide over the weekend.  The state Department of Health reported four additional COVID-19 deaths, putting the state’s total number of deaths at 1923.  The number of active coronavirus cases dipped slightly since Friday, along with the number of people hospitalized.  

Lake County reported another fifteen new positive COVID-19 cases over the weekend, along with three recovered cases.  The county’s number of active cases increased to 61.  

Elsewhere in our area, Kingsbury County reported 23 active COVID-19 cases, McCook County had 18 and Miner County-12.  Moody County had four active cases as of Sunday, and Brookings County reported 96.

The state Department of Health also reported that 37-percent of the state’s population had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 23-percent had completed their vaccination series.
