The number of active COVID-19 cases in Lake County reached an all-time high over the weekend.  With an additional fourteen new positive COVID-19 cases, and six new recovered cases, the number of active cases in Lake County as of Sunday was 72.  Overall, the county has had 298 positive COVID-19 cases, with 218 recovered cases and eight deaths.

Statewide, another 1464 new positive cases were reported since Friday and another sixteen new virus-related deaths. The total number of COVID-19 deaths is now at 323, and there are a record number of active cases, surpassing the eight-thousand mark on Sunday.  There are currently 300 people hospitalized in the state because of the virus. 

The number of active COVID-19 cases increased in area counties as well over the weekend.  Miner County had 65 active COVID-19 cases, McCook County had 54, and Kingsbury County had 52 active cases.  As of Sunday, Moody County had 50 active COVID-19 cases, and Brookings County had 317.  Of the sixteen new virus-related deaths reported since Friday, one was in Kingsbury County and one in Moody County.
