Ten more COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state over the weekend.  The state’s total number of virus-related deaths is now 1778.  The state Department of Health reported just less than 300 new positive COVID-19 cases since Friday.  There were more than 28-hundred active coronavirus cases in the state as of Sunday, and 125 people hospitalized.

Lake County reported three additional positive COVID-19 cases over the weekend, along with five recovered cases.  The county had 48 active cases and 50 Lake County residents have ever been hospitalized because of the virus.  

The number of active COVID-19 cases decreased in most area counties as of Sunday.  Miner county reported 22 active cases, and Moody and Kingsbury counties each had 21.  McCook County reported seven active coronavirus cases, and Brookings County had 134.

Also as of Sunday, the state Department of Health reported that more than 71-thousand residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with more than 28-thousand of those who have received both doses.
