Wednesday COVID-19 update: Statewide active cases increase; Lake County reports 5 new positive cases
One additional COVID-19 death was reported in the state Wednesday, bringing the state’s overall virus-related death toll to 1924. The state Department of Health also reported 270 new positive COVID-19 cases statewide. The number of active cases in the state increased by just more than one-hundred to more than 23-hundred as of Wednesday, and 72 people are currently hospitalized because of the virus.
Lake County reported another five new positive COVID-19 cases and two recovered cases. The number of active cases in Lake County is now at 66.
In our area, Kingsbury County reported 30 active cases, McCook County-18, and Miner County had 11. Moody County reported four active COVID-19 cases Wednesday, and Brookings County increased to 103.
The state Department of Health reported Wednesday also that 38-percent of the state’s population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 24-percent had completed their vaccination series.
