The number of new positive COVID-19 cases increased by more than 260 statewide on Wednesday.  The state Department of Health reported no new virus-related deaths, but the number of active cases in the state increased to more than 25-hundred and the number of people hospitalized was at 104.

Lake County’s new positive COVID-19 cases increased by six Wednesday, and there were four recovered cases.  Active cases in Lake County were at 52 as of yesterday.

Kingsbury County continued to report an increase in active cases, with a total Wednesday of 68. Elsewhere in our area, active COVID-19 cases in McCook County were at 16, Miner County reported 11, and Moody County had four active cases.  Brookings County reported 145 active coronavirus cases as of Wednesday.

The Madison Central School District reported a new positive COVID-19 case on Wednesday.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson reported that a student or staff member at Madison High School had tested positive for COVID-19.  Any close contacts determined by the district or state Department of Health will be notified by the district through an e-mail and phone call.
