A Volga woman has been identified as the person who died Friday night in a two-vehicle crash west of Flandreau.

A 2017 Ford F-150 pickup was northbound on 474th Avenue when it failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of 474th Avenue and South Dakota Highway 32. The vehicle collided in the intersection with a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup that was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 32.

Five people were in the 2018 Ford F-150 pickup. Candice Peterson, the 39-year-old passenger, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scott Schade, the 48-year-old male driver, and a 15-year-old female passenger both suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a Sioux Falls hospital. A 39-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries and was not transported. A 10-year-old male passenger was not injured. All are from Volga.

Jeffrey Eitreim, 63, of Brandon, was the second driver. He sustained life-threatening injuries. He was first transported by ambulance to the Flandreau hospital and then airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital

All six people involved were wearing seat belts.

South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
