Veterans Honor Park in Madison holds groundbreaking

Ground was broken Wednesday for a new Veterans Honor Park in Madison.  The Veterans Honor Park will be built on land along South Washington Avenue in Madison across from Lewis Drug.  The land has been donated by Jerry and Sue Larsen for the purpose of building an area to honor past, present and future veterans and their families.

Danny Frisby-Griffin, Chair of the Veterans Honor Park Committee, said work on the Park will start this summer.

Frisby-Griffin said that over the past three years, more than 240-thousand dollars has been raised.  He said they are getting close to what they need to help not only put things in place, but also pay for maintaining it into the future.  Frisby-Griffin said fundraising for the project will continue.

Frisby-Griffin said Wednesday was an important day in the community and for the future of the Veterans Honor Park.

The Veterans Honor Park is a joint project of the Ronald Westby VFW Post and the McKibbin-Mosher American Legion Post of Madison.
