Van Erdewyk receives Hall of Fame award

A former Dakota State University faculty member has been recognized and inducted into the DSU Academic Hall of Fame.  Dr. Zeno Van Erdewyk is a 2020 inductee into the Hall of Fame, but only a virtual recognition was able to be held earlier this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Last week, an in-person reception was held to honor Van Erdewyk at the Karl Mundt Library.

Former students and colleagues shared stories of Van Erdewyk, who taught classroom management and general psychology at DSU for 37 years. He presented 27 papers in 13 years, consulted worldwide, and developed international learning opportunities and educational trips for students. Van Erdewyk was also one of the first to teach in the computer arena before the 1984 mission change at the university.  He was also an alumnus of DSU, graduating in 1959.

Tom Farrell, a former student of Van Erdewyk’s, as well as a colleague, said he is “truly a Trojan we can all be proud of.”
