More initial weekly claims for state unemployment benefits were processed by the state Department of Labor and Regulation last week than the week prior. The state says 911 initial weekly claims were processed during the week ending August 8th.  This is an increase of 136 claims from the prior week’s total of 775.

A total of two-point-nine-million dollars was paid out in state benefits, in addition to seven-point-eight million dollars in Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, 941-thousand dollars in Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and 112-thousand dollars in Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits.

Since March 16th, a total of more than 278-million dollars in benefits has been paid.Â
