Two positive COVID-19 cases reported in Madison Central School District

The Madison Central School District reported its first positive COVID-19 case in the Madison Middle School and another positive case in the elementary school over the weekend..  School officials informed parents Friday that a student or staff member at Madison Middle School had tested positive for COVID-19.  Parents were again notified on Sunday of a positive case in Madison Elementary.  

Superintendent Joel Jorgenson said that there were no close contacts within the school district with the Middle School case.  As far as the positive case in the elementary school, Jorgenson said that school officials are working with the state Department of Health to determine any close contacts within the school.

These latest positive COVID-19 cases bring the school district’s total overall to six since the start of the school year. 

As of Friday, the state Department of Health reported that Lake County had 35 active cases of COVID-19.  Statewide, there are currently close to 78-hundred active coronavirus cases and 214  people are hospitalized.  So far, 21-hundred people in the state have died with COVID-19.
