Two new positive COVID-19 cases Thursday in Lake County; four additional deaths in the state

Another two new positive COVID-19 cases have been reported Thursday in Lake County.  That is 21 new positive cases reported in the county in the past week.  The state Department of Health reports that Lake County has had 43 total cases overall, with 22 of them now recovered and one death, putting the number of active cases in the county currently at 20.  The state Health Department has also moved Lake County into the category of substantial community spread.  According to the state’s COVID-19 website, substantial community spread means that there are five or more cases of community-acquired COVID-19 in a county or a distinct group of cases in a single area.  There have been 742 negative tests in Lake County.

Statewide, an additional four COVID-19 related deaths have been reported.  Thursday’s deaths are residents of Minnehaha, Union, Todd, and Oglala Lakota counties.  There have been 115 COVID-19 related deaths in the state as of Thursday.

Overall, the state is reporting an additional 42 new positive cases Thursday.  There are currently 842 active cases and 61 people are hospitalized.
