Two new positive COVID-19 cases in Madison Central School District

Two additional positive COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Madison Central School District this week.  A new positive COVID-19 case was reported Wednesday in a student or staff member at Madison Elementary School, and another was reported Thursday at Madison High School.  The school district is working with the state Department of Health to determine if there are any other close contacts within the schools.  As of Thursday, there were three active COVID-19 cases at Madison High School and two at Madison Elementary.  

In Lake County on Thursday, there were 48 active coronavirus cases.  McCook County had 51, and Moody County reported 45 active COVID-19 cases.  

Statewide, six additional COVID-19 deaths were reported by the state Department of Health, putting the overall number of deaths at 2303 since the start of the pandemic.  There were 6775 active cases and 246 people were hospitalized as of Thursday.
