Two more people in the state have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus in South Dakota to 48.  The state Department of Health Thursday said the deaths are in residents of Minnehaha and Pennington counties.  There is an increase Thursday also in the number of hospitalizations for COVID-19, with 91 people hospitalized currently.  

The state reports 73 new positive coronavirus cases Thursday, with 122 more people who have recovered and 1057 active cases at this time.  

In this area, Lake County remains at one active case at this time and 201 negative tests.  Moody County currently has six active cases, and McCook County has one.
