Two injured in Sunday night accident
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident west of Madison on Sunday night.
The accident happened just after 8:00 Sunday night at the intersection of Highway 34 and 444th Avenue. Lake County Sheriff Tim Walburg said the two vehicles were westbound on Highway 34 when the accident happened. He said that 41-year old Andreana McKee of Winfred had been traveling west on Highway 34 and was stopped at the intersection with 444th Avenue attempting to make a left turn after signaling. McKee’s vehicle was then struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Kevin Koerlin of Brookings.
Walburg said that both McKee and Koerlin were transported to Madison Regional Health for non-life threatening injuries from the accident. Koerlin was issued a citation for Careless Driving and No Seat Belt.
McKee’s vehicle, a 2009 GMC Acadia, was listed as a total loss in the accident, as was Koerlin’s 2012 Dodge Ram pickup. Walburg said both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
