Tuesday COVID-19 update: 2 deaths in state; no new positive cases in Lake County
Two more COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state Tuesday, putting the state’s total number of virus-related deaths at 1935. The state Department of Health also reported close to 160 new positive COVID-19 cases. The number of active cases statewide increased to more than 24-hundred on Tuesday, and the number of people hospitalized increased to 95.
Lake County did not report any new positive COVID-19 cases Tuesday and five recovered cases. The county had 50 active coronavirus cases as of Tuesday.
Several area counties saw a slight increase in their active cases Tuesday. Kingsbury County reported 65 active COVID-19 cases, McCook County-16, and Miner County had ten. Moody County reported five active coronavirus cases Tuesday, and Brookings County had 136.
The state Department of Health reported that 42-percent of the state’s population had received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 28-percent had completed their vaccination series.
